Unilever completes Dollar Shave Club buyout and agrees Blueair acquisition

17th August 2016

Unilever has announced the completion of its takeover of Dollar Shave Club, while also announcing another new acquisition.

The Dollar Shave Club purchase was originally confirmed in July and has now been finalised, giving the company control over a valuable male grooming brand and a portfolio of successful products.

Dollar Shave Club's Wanderer range of men's personal wash products will be added to the Unilever portfolio, as well as the Big Cloud men's skin care products, Boogies hair styling products and One Wipe Charlies daily wipes.

Meanwhile, Unilever has signed a deal to purchase Blueair, the world's leading supplier of innovative mobile indoor air purification technologies and solutions.

Headquartered in Stockholm, the company generated a turnover of $106 million (81.48 million pounds) in 2015 and sells its products in more than 60 countries worldwide, with a strong presence in markets such as the US, China, Japan, South Korea and India.

Nitin Paranjpe, president of Unilever's home care business, said: "The Blueair brand and products are widely known and represent exceptional quality and design, as well as superior capacity and performance."
