Unilever sees continued growth in 2010

9th March 2011

Unilever has published its financial statement for the 2010 full-year period, reporting growth during a period in which the firm undertook several transformative initiatives.

The health and personal care firm's turnover rose by 11.1 percent between 2009 and 2010 to 44.26 billion euros (38.01 billion pounds), reflecting an underlying sales growth of 4.1 percent and volume growth of 5.1 percent.

Paul Polman, the firm's chief executive officer, noted that increasing volume share was experienced in all regions, while Unilever has been able to increase its marketing investment and rolled out products in new territories.

The year has also seen the company complete its acquisition of Sara Lee's personal care business, while it is progressing well with its planned takeover of Alberto Culver.

Mr Polman said: "We are pleased with another year of good results in which we delivered against all our key priorities and further progressed the transformation of Unilever."

This month, the company was able to streamline its operations after it completed the sale of its consumer tomato products business in Brazil.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800451883-ADNFCR
