Unilever sells personal care brands to Strength of Nature

28th November 2013

Unilever has signed a deal to sell off some of its personal care brands to hair care specialist Strength of Nature.

The transaction will see Unilever transferring ownership of the Soft and Beautiful, TCB and Pro-Line Comb-Thru businesses – excluding TCB's business in Africa – for an undisclosed amount. The deal is expected to close in early December 2013.

All three of these brands have a long legacy in the ethnic hair care category and can boast a strong consumer following and high levels of market awareness. The sale will help Unilever focus on its strategic priorities, while safeguarding the future of the divested businesses.

Kees Kruythoff, president of Unilever North America, said: "These brands are part of one of the fastest-growing categories in the personal care sector and we believe their potential can now be more fully realised with Strength of Nature."

According to the company's most recent financial report, Unilever's personal care division has been its strongest performer during 2013 so far.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801666430-ADNFCR
