United Drug announces Medical Communications Group takeover

2nd September 2013

United Drug has agreed a deal to acquire the multi-channel marketing, call centre and sample management businesses of Medical Communications Group (MCG), which is expected to be concluded in the next six weeks.

Valued at around 11.2 million euros (9.5 million pounds), the acquisition follows on from the takeover of Pharmexx last year and will strengthen United Drug's marketing, communications and sample and promotional material management capabilities.

MCG is based in Canada and provides outsourced services to more than 60 pharmaceutical and healthcare companies across the nation, employing around 60 people.

The firm will become part of the sales, marketing and medical division of United Drug, with the existing management team of MCG set to remain with the business.

Liam FitzGerald, chief executive of United Drug, said: "MCG has established a reputation over many years as a highly innovative provider of promotional services and the MCG expertise in multi-channel marketing complements the field-based capabilities of Pharmexx."

This comes after the firm last month announced the acquisition of Expansis, a contract sales organisation based in Spain.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801632594-ADNFCR
