VCCP campaign highlights Macmillan Cancer Support services

24th August 2016

VCCP has helped Macmillan Cancer Support to launch a high-profile advertising campaign highlighting the breadth of the support services it provides.

The fully integrated national campaign launched on TV earlier this month and is supported by out-of-home and social activity, as well as a partnership with Smooth Radio featuring real cancer patients talking about how Macmillan has supported them.

Central to the campaign is the support Macmillan offers at every stage, from providing information at the point of diagnosis to providing physiotherapy after treatment. It also offers a support line and local information centres, and funds a range of health professionals.

The advertising features the lyrics of the song You'll Never Walk Alone to summarise the charity's approach. The inclusion of the song meant the campaign's launch was delayed from its planned debut in May, out of respect for families affected by the Hillsborough inquest verdict.

Macmillan spoke with local communities to ensure they were amenable to the song's use in the August campaign.

Michael Sugden, chief executive officer of VCCP, said: "Macmillan's latest campaign reminds us of the incredible network of support they offer to those living with cancer, which extends far beyond the tireless work of the Macmillan nurses."
