Vetstream calls for IT equipment donations at London Vet Show
Vetstream has urged attendees of the forthcoming London Vet Show to bring their old IT equipment so it can be donated to vets in Africa.
The company is calling for donations to the African Small Companion Animal Network (AFSCAN) project, coordinated in partnership with Computers 4 Africa, which takes responsibility for preparing the equipment for its new role.
Through the project, Vetstream and the charity plan to bring more than 150 African veterinary practices online in five sub-Saharan countries – Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda – by the end of 2015.
Computers 4 Africa's team data-wipes donated equipment, refurbishes it, installs software and browser solutions, and ships it to Africa for use by veterinarians in the AFSCAN-participating countries.
Dr Mark Johnston, managing director of Vetstream, said: "These days we replace IT equipment so often that it is amazing how quickly a large pile of redundant equipment can build up."
This year's London Vet Show will take place at the Olympia Grand and will be held on November 19th and 20th.
