Virbac launches new Prinovox parasiticide
Virbac has announced the launch of its new parasiticide product Prinovox, which offers a wide spectrum of activity against various common parasites.
The prescription-only spot-on ectoparasiticide features the established industry-leading combination of moxidectin and imidacloprid, and is offered in six presentations to suit all weight ranges, in packs of four pipettes.
In dogs, it is licensed for the treatment and prevention of lungworm, fleas, lice, mites, heartworm and roundworm, while in cats it covers fleas, mites, roundworm and heartworm. It can also be used against fleas and heartworm in ferrets.
The product packaging uses the Blippar platform, which allows smartphone-using owners to scan icons to gain access to additional information on Prinovox, including a usage video, a reminder system and an interactive game.
Simon Boulton, head of marketing for Virbac's companion animal team, said: "The ectoparasiticide market is one of the largest and most competitive in our industry and we are the first company to offer a product with the same efficacy as the market leader for all indications."
This follows the launch of the company's Deltanil, a deltamethrin-based product for use in protecting livestock against flies and lice, earlier this year.
