Virbac launches new TMPS antibiotic product Sulfatrim

26th June 2015

Virbac has announced the launch of Sulfatrim, a new trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole (TMPS) oral antibiotic product.

Presented in a 30ml bottle with a dispensing cap and syringe, it is the first veterinary-licensed TMPS oral antibiotic designed specifically for use in rabbits, pigeons and bearded dragons.

Until this point, there have been no antibiotics available for use in these species of animal, making the treatment of certain infections and illnesses challenging.

Kate Woolley, product manager at Virbac, said: "In an environment where vets are increasingly aware of the responsible use of antibiotics across all species, we are very happy to launch Sulfatrim."

Virbac is one of the largest independent veterinary pharmaceutical companies in the world, with a product portfolio including numerous market-leading and award-winning products for large and small animals.

It recently introduced Prinovox, a prescription-only spot-on ectoparasiticide combining moxidectin and imidacloprid, for use in the treatment of dogs, cats and ferrets.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801792557-ADNFCR
