Vocus-Cision merger ‘will offer benefits for PR industry’

9th June 2014

Vocus' new chief executive officer (CEO) Peter Granat has voiced confidence that his company's upcoming merger with Cision will be good for the PD industry.

The business leader has moved to allay concerns that private equity firm and Vocus owner GTCR's plan to form a global PR cloud company by bringing together the two businesses will benefit the founders and shareholders more than customers.

Speaking to PRWeek, Mr Granat – who quit his role as president and CEO of Cision to join Vocus – said the joint capabilities of the two firms will be leveraged to meet the needs of PR professionals who are increasingly making use of new tools, such as content marketing, social and sponsored content.

He explained that the merger will allow the new-look company "to use the scale of both organisations and make additional investments in research and development, new technologies and acquisitions to address the changing needs of the PR industry going forward".

Mr Granat also noted that companies are continuing to launch in the marketplace, a trend that will not be disrupted by the Vocus-Cision deal.

Vocus employs more than 150 worldwide, with more than 17,000 annual subscription customers using its software across a wide variety of industries.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801726725-ADNFCR
