Walgreens Boots Alliance names new global chief information officer

1st June 2015

Walgreens Boots Alliance has announced the appointment of Anthony Roberts as its new senior vice-president and global chief information officer (CIO).

Mr Roberts, who previously served as the company's international CIO, can boast experience of working for global businesses such as PepsiCo and UPS. He played a key role in overhauling IT infrastructure ahead of the recent Walgreens/Alliance Boots merger.

He has been appointed as the successor to outgoing executive vice-president and global CIO Tim Theriault, who is stepping down from the post for personal reasons.

Mr Theriault will now act as a consultant to Walgreen Boots Alliance, providing guidance on a range of issues, including cyber security.

Executive vice-chairman and acting chief executive officer Stefano Pessina said: "We are grateful for all that Tim has done and for continuing as a consultant and a senior advisor to me as we pursue new global frontiers in IT to serve customers, patients and partners."

Since the completion of the Walgreens/Alliance Boots merger earlier this year, the new-look company has presided over a network of more than 12,800 stores, 370,000 employees and 340 pharmaceutical distribution centres worldwide.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801789524-ADNFCR
