Waters announces imminent retirement of chairman

1st November 2017

Waters has announced that its long-serving chairman Douglas Berthiaume will be retiring from the organisation at the end of the year.

Mr Berthiaume will retire as chairman of the board of directors of the company on December 31st 2017, having played a key role in leading Waters as an independent public business for the last two decades.

Christopher O'Connell, the company's president and chief executive officer, has been selected by the board as its new chairman, effective as of January 1st 2018. This comes two years after he previously succeeded Mr Berthiaume as chief executive.

The outgoing chairman praised his successor for having guided the company to new levels of growth and profitability since assuming the chief executive role in 2015.

Mr O'Connell added: "Speaking on behalf of all Waters employees worldwide, I wish Doug the very best as he completes his transition to retirement."

Waters also recently announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2017, a period marked by a seven percent year-on-year increase in sales.
