Waters announces third-quarter financials
Waters, a manufacturer of scientific equipment, has published its financial results, which cover the third quarter of 2009.
During the period, the group’s sales were declared to be $374 million (224.2 million pounds), a decrease of three per cent when compared to the $386 million it witnessed in the third quarter of 2008.
Regarding the first nine months of 2009, this figure stood at $1,070 million, marking an eight per cent drop from the $1,157 reported during the same timeframe last year.
Douglas Berthiaume, chairman, president and chief executive officer of the organisation, commented: “Business trends in the third quarter suggest a stabilisation of demand by our major end markets. Customer interest in our new products is encouraging and indicates that research-related spending may benefit our future results.”
Waters, which designs and manufactures analytical technologies such as liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry and thermal analysis, was established in 1958 and current employs 5,000 individuals.
