Weber Shandwick names new senior technology strategist
Weber Shandwick has announced the appointment of Wayne Hickey as its new executive vice-president and senior technology practice strategist, based in San Francisco.
Mr Hickey joins the global agency from Edelman, where he led the firm's Bay Area operations across San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Sacramento, as well as heading up its portfolio of work for the Microsoft and Xbox brands at one point.
Prior to this, he spent six years at Weber Shandwick's Seattle office, where he was credited with spearheading its digital entertainment practice.
In his new role, Mr Hickey will advise clients across Weber Shandwick's North American portfolio and will help to oversee the further growth of the agency's increasingly important technology business.
Sara Gavin, Weber Shandwick's North American president, said: "We know that virtually every client has a powerful technology story, regardless of industry, and Wayne will lead our efforts to drive consumer technology insights to support a range of clients."
The company is one of the largest communications and engagement agencies in the world, with a network spanning 126 cities in 81 countries.
