Welch Allyn launches assessment products with LED lamps
Welch Allyn has begun taking orders from customers outside of North America for physical assessment products with integrated LED lamps.
The manufacturer's most popular otoscope and ophthalmoscope instruments, diagnostic sets and wall systems will now be equipped with lamps that last 30 times longer and recharge considerably faster than traditional halogen lamps.
Welch Allyn's SureColor LED lamp technology will be made available worldwide in 2014 and preserves the familiar feel of halogen lamps, while virtually eliminating the need for replacement.
LED lamps also result in lower temperature output, which may increase comfort for both the patient and the caregiver.
Cindy Kuiper, director of global marketing for Welch Allyn's physical assessment, endoscopy and medical education business, said: "Offering customers integrated LED lamps in otoscopes and ophthalmoscopes is a perfect complement to our existing halogen lamp offering and reaffirms our commitment to delivering technologies that enhance the delivery of care."
Last month, the company attended the American Academy of Family Physicians scientific meeting in San Diego, where it demonstrated its new CP 150 electrocardiograph device and iExaminer handheld ophthalmic imaging system.
