Welch Allyn launches new RetinaVue 100 Imager

29th March 2016

Welch Allyn has announced the launch of its new RetinaVue 100 Imager, a new handheld device for diabetic retinopathy screening.

The devices works in conjunction with the RetinaVue Network to make it possible for diabetic retinopathy screening to be carried out in primary care settings in an affordable and practical manner.

It costs two-thirds less than full-size fundus cameras and is able to capture and transmit high-quality images with minimal training for staff, thanks to its proprietary touchless auto-focus/image-capture technology and integrated image quality assessment algorithms.

RetinaVue has the potential to double patient compliance for potentially vision-saving annual diabetic retinal exams in 12 months.

Alton Shader, president of Welch Allyn, said: "RetinaVue has the potential to change lives by helping to identify diabetic retinopathy in those individuals who had not previously been screened for the disease."

The Welch Allyn business now operates as part of the Hill-Rom group, having been acquired by the larger company last year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801815493-ADNFCR
