Welch Allyn purchases PediaVision assets

4th June 2014

Welch Allyn has announced the acquisition of certain assets of PediaVision, a Florida-based developer of vision technology.

The company is known as the inventor of the award-winning Spot, a fast, portable and easy-to-use binocular vision screener with wireless communication capabilities. It can be used to screen for refractive errors associated with ophthalmological issues in patients of all ages.

This purchase allows Welch Allyn to offer its customers a state-of-the-art diagnostic device for conducting eye examinations in a variety of settings, while complementing its existing range of vision screening technology.

A Welch Allyn-branded version of Spot will launch later this year. Meanwhile, PediaVision's employees and contractors will be retained under a Transition Services Agreement, remaining with the company in their current capacity through the transition period.

Welch Allyn president and chief executive officer Stephen Meyer said: "The acquisition of the PediaVision assets … is in keeping with our corporate objective that emphasises using a deep understanding of our customer base as the foundation for the kinds of products and services we provide."

The firm is a global manufacturer of medical diagnostic equipment, with nearly 2,600 employees working in 26 different countries.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801725827-ADNFCR
