Wildfire wins brief with Canonical to promote Ubuntu Core

14th December 2016

Wildfire has been selected as the new PR partner for open source software company Canonical in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The agency was chosen after a competitive pitch and will be tasked with building awareness and credibility of the client's Ubuntu Core offering across the UK and mainland Europe.

Ubuntu Core is a compact version of the Ubuntu operating system, which has been designed from the ground up to address the unique security and development needs of the Internet of Things (IoT).

Wildfire's remit is to raise awareness of the benefits of this platform as the IoT becomes more of a mainstream proposition, specifically focusing on how Ubuntu Core can address security challenges arising from this paradigm shift.

The work will involve supporting the presence of the Ubuntu Core brand at major industry events throughout 2017, including the Mobile World Congress and Embedded World.

Debby Penton, managing director of Wildfire, said: "Ubuntu Core presents an elegant solution for device manufacturers looking to secure and future proof their products. We're looking forward to building awareness and bringing us all one step closer to the promised benefits of a connected future."
