Wockhardt announces deal with DSM

Wockhardt has announced the signing of an in-licensing deal with DSM Nutritional Products, to market Bonistein.

Designed for the treatment of osteoporosis, the product was first launched in 2002 and is currently available in Europe, South Africa and various Asian countries.

Commenting on the agreement, Wockhardt chairman Habil Khorakiwala said Bonistein would “complement and further strengthen” the organisation’s orthopaedic portfolio.

He went on to say it will “cater to the needs of emerging problems in an holistic manner”.

In October, Wockhardt announced its Q3 results for 2008, noting a rise of over a quarter (25.1 per cent) in consolidated sales revenues from the same time in 2007.

The company added its operating profit grew by 16.5 per cent from the same time to 210.8 crore rupees (29.3 million pounds).

Wockhardt has 14 manufacturing plants in the UK, Ireland, France, the US and India and employs 500 scientists.

The organisation claims to have over 750 patent filings.
