WPP joins Sanofi’s team of media partners

22nd August 2017

WPP has joined the pharmaceutical company Sanofi's roster of media and creative partners following an extensive review.

The healthcare giant spent around half a year reviewing its marketing partnerships and has  now selected WPP to join Publicis and Havas as agency partners, with activities spanning its various business units.

WPP has an existing relationship with Sanofi's consumer health operations, which was acquired from Boehringer Ingelheim earlier this year. The group will now handle the bulk of Sanofi's comms work, with its Group M/Mindshareb business acting as Sanofi's new global media agency partner outside of the US and Japan.

Meanwhile, Havas will run media buying on the prescription side of the business and planning for consumer healthcare, while KWG will continue to serve as Sanofi's media buying agency of record for consumer products.

An AdWeek report indicates that WPP plans to form an international Team Sanofi division to handle the creative side of the work.

Sanofi said in a statement: "Each agency plays a critical role in supporting all integrated marketing services, including digital, consumer advertising, healthcare communications and public relations."
