Zoetis campaign to raise funds and awareness for Pets as Therapy

9th November 2016

Zoetis has announced the launch of a new fundraising campaign to support the UK charity group Pets as Therapy.

The aim of the campaign will be to raise money and increase awareness of the charity among British pet owners, while also bolstering the number of Pets as Therapy volunteers to 20,000 by 2020.

An initial donation of 10,000 pounds will be followed by incremental contributions raised through sales of Zoetis' monthly flea, tick and mite treatment Simparica. An additional pound will be donated to the charity for every pack of Simparica sold through the company's e-voucher promotion.

Ned Flaxman, Zoetis' companion animal business unit director, said: "We are hoping that the Simparica promotion will raise awareness, as well as funds, for Pets as Therapy and encourage more pet owners to volunteer for the charity."

Pets as Therapy provides community-based animal-assisted therapy to people in need throughout the UK, with more than 5,000 volunteers visiting residential homes, hospitals, hospices, schools, daycare centres and prisons with their pets.

Zoetis will also be providing free doses of Simparica to 5,000 dogs involved in the Pets as Therapy programme to help protect them from fleas and ticks.
