Zoetis Launches AI Diagnostics Technology

4th September 2023

“Expert-level AI” dermatological technology will evaluate impression smears and ear and skin samples to detect yeast, inflammatory cells, and bacteria to deliver fast responses. Zoetis describes this as a pioneering AI diagnostics tool and says it demonstrates what is feasible for current and future veterinary diagnostics.

Vetscan Imagyst AI widens their current offerings’ abilities to provide AI faecal evaluations, blood smear exams and clinical processing for cats and dogs. The company’s online AI platform includes each of these capabilities integrated in their entirety.

Zoetis’ diagnostics veterinary manager for the UK, Sophie Duguid, explained that “The ability to accurately and reliably identify inflammatory cells, bacteria and yeast, at the time of visit can make a huge difference for busy clinics, ensuring better outcomes and happier patients and owners.

“Performing cytology is a critical component of the dermatology work-up; however, this can often be challenging for veterinary health care teams to deliver given the considerable time pressures in clinical practice.

“Vetscan Imagyst AI dermatology allows clinicians to rapidly detect the presence or absence of skin infection in canine and feline dermatology cases which allows for clinically informed decision making.”

In order to provide a variety of tools on one diagnostics platform, Vetscan Imagyst was introduced in 2020.

An international team of highly skilled clinical pathologists support its small scanner and AI tools.

According to Zoetis, introducing new technology to the cloud-based system is simple.
