Zoetis launches new parasiticide combination Stronghold Plus
Zoetis has announced the launch of Stronghold Plus, a new parasiticide therapy for cats.
This topical combination of parasiticides protects against fleas, gastrointestinal worms, heartworm, ear mites and lice, utilising the combined action of selamectin and sarolaner to extend the duration of protection for up to five weeks with no drop in efficacy.
Stronghold Plus is being made available in an easy-to-use, low volume dose that facilitates a gentle application process, making the product suitable for use in kittens as young as eight weeks old.
The product launch will be accompanied by a practice support programme running throughout the summer months, with Good Medicine Good Business workshops set to examine the contribution that preventatives can make to practice growth.
Scott Wheway, product manager at Zoetis, said: "Stronghold Plus offers vets a new topical choice that treats the parasites commonly presenting a threat to cats with one convenient monthly dose."
This represents the first approval of sarolaner for use in cats, with Zoetis keen to make further use of this ingredient as a foundation for future product lines and lifecycle innovations.
