Zoetis offers worming advice as part of equine healthcare project

19th July 2017

Zoetis has provided worming advice to horse owners as part of an equine healthcare project organised by the British Horse Society (BHS).

The equine healthcare and castration initiative provided support for more than 500 horses recognised by welfare officers as requiring help, with vets from the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) offering assistance.

Members of Zoetis' UK equine team joined volunteers from BHS, BEVA and several other equine welfare charities to attend special clinics in areas identified as having high numbers of horses that were in need of additional support.

Wormers were prescribed and administered by vets as part of a responsible worming programme, with a castration service also on offer to help reduce unwanted breeding and improve welfare.

Additionally, horses were given microchips and passports to help with identification and traceability, with the sessions also improving relationships between animal health professionals and horse-owning communities.

Penny McCann, equine product manager at Zoetis, said: "Several different members of our equine team have attended over the past couple of years and have really enjoyed volunteering their time and knowledge to help make a real difference."
