ZooBiotic announces BioMonde takeover

28th May 2010

ZooBiotic is to acquire European competitor BioMonde in a deal which allows it to increase its presence in the larval therapy market.

The Welsh company, which was founded in 2005, has agreed a multi-million pound takeover deal of the Hamburg-based BioMonde, a brand with strong penetration both in Germany and across Europe.

According to ZooBiotic, this agreement will allow the firm to become a “dominant larval therapy player” through the expansion of its intellectual property portfolio and the augmentation of its financial position.

It said: “In time, this will enable Zoobiotic to build a firm foundation to drive our business even further.”

ZooBiotic originated as a spin-out of Bro-Morgannwg National Health Service Trust and specialises in larval therapy products for the chronic, infected and necrotic wound treatment market.

It currently employs 27 members of staff and utilises a state-of-the-art aseptic manufacturing facility, which is licensed by the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency.
