European Business Development Manager
Role Overview
Reports to: Sales Director, Europe
Based in: UK Office, Birmingham
Regions covered: UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Scandinavia
The Business Development Manager, Europe is responsible for developing new opportunities within their specified territory and growing existing customer accounts. This will involve working in collaboration with members of the sales and marketing teams globally to support their efforts in identifying markets, sales channels and key accounts to generate new business. They will also be responsible for managing existing accounts in their region.
Responsibilities:
Account Management:
Plan and execute strategy for profitable sales growth in the region in accordance with prescribed objectives
Take full ownership of allocated accounts managing the day to day interaction, addressing any questions and resolving issues
Maintaining and developing relationships with existing customer base including visits to main accounts on a regular basis to present products and progress sales
Negotiating and closing opportunities with existing and new customers
Ensure opportunities are updated and correctly managed through the sale process with all relevant information recorded to the required standard in the company CRM solution
-Perform regular analysis to present performance against sales plan, forecasts and objectives for the region managed
Business Development:
Identify new business opportunities including new applications, channels and markets which align with the product portfolio and core competencies
Identifying key influencers at targeting accounts who can be used to leverage marketing material and recommend supported solutions with our products
Responsible for qualifying new business from leads and target customers
Attending conferences and events to increase network and understand market trends
Provide updates on company wide sales strategies by assessing current product performance based on feedback from the market
Assisting with the planning and delivery of content to sales channels and reviewing it’s effectiveness
Person Specifications
Dynamic, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to execute and drive growth within a lean organization
Knowledge of life and physical sciences research marketing with a focus on microscopy and imaging
5+ years experience in account management and business development
Demonstrated success in bring up new channel partners and key accounts
High degree of customer focus and hands-on attitude
Well-developed presentation skills
Excellent customer relationships and interpersonal skills
Proficiency to follow up and meet deadlines
Works with high energy and is self-motivated
Ability to travel 50% of time
Competent with Windows and Microsoft products
Flexibility to work outside traditional working hours
