Field Service Engineer
Role Overview
We are recruiting on behalf of an expanding scientific instrument sales and service company who are hiring for a Field Service Engineer position.
The company manufacture instrumentation used in pharmaceutical laboratories and are looking for applicants with laboratory experience (ideally 2+ years) who are looking to move into a customer focused service engineer role as well as an experience engineer working with analytical equipment.
Experience with HPLC, GC, Dissolution, UV Spectroscopy or Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) is preferred.
We are looking for applicants who are commutable from the office in Hungerford, Berkshire. This is a field based position covering areas from Scotland to Kent with approximately 2 overnight stays per week and an office admin day on Fridays.
Role Requirements
· The on-site work involves the scheduled calibration and qualification of instrumentation and ranges from basic mechanical testing to comprehensive instrument validations using analytical chemistry methodologies.
· In addition to the above scheduled work, the jobholder will be expected to provide frontline breakdown support and repair services to our customers across the UK, and to complete these repairs in a safe, logical and timely manner.
· The successful applicant will be required to contribute to the development, validation and continuous improvement of qualification procedures and protocols. They will also assist in the updating of documentation to support this work whilst complying with our internal quality systems.
· The job will entail travelling throughout the UK with some overnight stays each month.
· Occasional international travel may be required, in Europe and North America.
Person Specifications
· Troubleshooting experience with analytical equipment both either as an engineer or in a laboratory environment
· Educated to A-Level, in a Chemistry, or Scientifically related field,
· Experience of working in a GXP or compliant analytical laboratory environment either as an end user or engineer.
· Effective communication and presentation skills.
· Computer Literate
· An ability to work unsupervised and to be self-motivating.
· A full, clean, valid UK driving license.
· Working knowledge in one or more of the following analytical techniques: HPLC, GC, Dissolution, UV Spectroscopy, Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC).
