Field Service Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity with a well-established UK based independent mass spectrometer and chromatography service organisation as a field service engineer. Our client has very strong relationships with leading OEM’S within the industry and will provide extensive training on these unique instruments in house. They are culture focussed and customise each contract to meet the needs of the individual customer.
Role Requirements
– Reporting to the Service Manager through the Service Team Leader, the role is responsible for providing highest level of technical support to clients in the field and all colleagues across the business.
– Engineers will be responsible for supporting the management team in driving customer focus through knowledge and best practice and supporting with the delivery of new messages and processes. Flexibility is key to the role, with the ability to maintain own development plan in line with business objectives.
– Work with service planner to effectively manage diary to ensure workload is carried out effectively and efficiently.
– Work within the framework of Solar Vista to record and manage all work to enable correct logging of critical information needed to produce accurate service reports inclusive of technical information, time and parts.
– To carry out the following activities within the UK where required
– Field service (breakdown & preventative maintenance)
– Remote client support (telephone, email or remote access)
– Refurbishment of instrumentation for sale
– Workshop repairs
– In-person or remote client training
– Warehouse duties to ensure compliance with good housekeeping
Person Specifications
– Relevant science or engineering qualification or significant accumulated field experience.
– In-depth knowledge of HPLC/UPLC, GC, liquid handling systems, gas generation systems & various mass spectrometry ionisation techniques and analyser types
– Knowledge of general field service operations
– Full, clean UK driving license
– Valid passport with a minimum of 1-year remaining validity
– Have the right to reside and work in the United Kingdom
– Good presentation, communication and inter-personal skills.
– Outgoing and confident and ability to work on your own and within the service team.
– A “keen to learn” approach and positive outlook
– Comfortable and confident telephone manner for supporting our customers remotely
– Numerate and competent with detail and analysis
– Prepared to travel throughout the Midlands and South-East (Cambridge, Birmingham, Oxford, London and the South-East).
