Field Service Technician
Role Overview
Service for Laboratory Equipment, working independently, troubleshooting problems, completing repairs and preventative maintenance on multiple types of laboratory equipment and scientific refrigeration equipment. Technicians need to have excellent customer service and troubleshooting skills. Must be able to diagnose electrical control systems and have a good understanding of refrigeration systems to complete diagnostic evaluations. Previous experience with cascade refrigeration systems and multiple types of electronic controllers including PID is preferred.

This position is with a fast-growing Service Provider for laboratory equipment and scientific refrigeration equipment located in Hillsborough, NC serving the Research Triangle Park area including Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, NC. We serve a broad range of Laboratory Research customers including: Universities, Hospitals, Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing based customers.
Primary equipment supported includes but is not limited to Ultra-Low Temperature Freezers, Freezers, Refrigerators, Environmental Walk-In and Reach-In Chambers, Incubators, LN2 Freezers, Laboratory Ovens, Water Baths, Cryostats, and bench top instruments.
Role Requirements
Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of Ultra-Low Temperature Freezers.
Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of refrigerated lab equipment including: Refrigerators, Freezers, Environmental Chambers, Incubators, etc.
Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of Cryogenics & LN2 Systems
Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of many other types of laboratory equipment.
Install and Service State of the Art Alarm systems for lab equipment.
Maintain accurate documentation of services performed for customers.
Person Specifications
Experience with low temperature refrigeration systems
Experience dealing directly with customers.
Excellent problem solving ability.
Excellent electro-mechanical ability.
Individual needs electro mechanical skill sets to maintain and repair refrigeration systems utilizing PID controllers, diagnose electrical problems with or without electrical schematics.
Hands-on lab equipment experience (may include, but not limited to: refrigeration, ultra low freezer, and LN2 cryo storage)
