Role Overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Manager to be responsible for managing the ELISA & RIDs manufacturing departments providing high quality kits and components.

The successful candidate will have the ownership for product lines and will be responsible for proactively challenging output and results through analysis of efficiency report and Quality metrics data. As part of this role you will drive the production team in the Continuous Improvement Project and will be champion for improvements in Quality and productivity through strategic thinking to drive to be World Class.

Role Requirements

To have full management and strategic responsibility for the successful operation of your area, ensuring compliance with the company quality policy.
To contribute to the Company’s strategic direction and be involved in Company-wide projects/ activities.
To be responsible for planning own workload and working without day to day input from line manager, influencing personal training and establishing appropriate time lines for long term projects.
To co-ordinate workload and set objectives for direct reports to ensure that operational objectives of the department are met and delivered within agreed timescales.
To ensure timely and efficient delivery of all released products falling into the remit on time and to budget.
To understand and plan the capacity of your area, from employee output to equipment needs.
To develop policies, standard operating procedures, validation plans and protocols, relevant to the operation of the department and ensuring that these are implemented.
To be responsible for ensuring correct quality monitoring within the group. Ensuring any complaints, NCRs, CAPAs and audit non-conformances are dealt with effectively and within the required timescale.
To ensure that the department can meet customer needs by ensuring products are manufactured to the need date within lead-time.
To provide clinical and scientific leadership to employees in the department and across the Company when required.
To be part of any New Product introduction teams as required to ensure that any new products enter manufacturing in a well-planned/optimized manner, and to influence product design for ease and consistency of manufacture. This is to include the documentation to support manufacturing processes and any necessary validation activities.

Person Specifications

Degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline
Previous experience of working in a clinical diagnostic laboratory using immunological assays
Previous management experience
Experience of managing a budget
Excellent organisational skills
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
Excellent leadership skills, must be able to work and lead in a team environment
Good analytical skills
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
The ability to manage time efficiently
To be flexible to the needs of the business
To be friendly and approachable

Previous experience manufacturing ELISA products
Previous experience of working in a quality controlled (preferably cGMP) environment
To be friendly and approachable
