Role Overview

To identify and deliver opportunities for new microbiology (with particular focus on Media – including related products such as MPM – and Anti-sera) products and to maximise revenue and contribution for new product opportunities and for the current microbiology and molecular product range.

A key support role within the Sales and Marketing team, working alongside the product development teams to ensure sustainable increases in both sales volume and profits of Microbiology products.

New Product Launches – to work with the R&D teams to deliver new products and ensure new products are launched on schedule and all support materials are available at the required time.

Website – to manage the allocated specific product portfolio, current and future, content and performance within the UK Website. To liaise with Germany, France, Marcomms, IT and Website Designers to ensure that our German and French sites are also performing to required standards.

Corporate Branding – To ensure all marketing literature and exhibition materials are produced in line with agreed style guides and at the lowest possible cost.

Data Protection – to manage customer information within CRM and gained via our website to ensure we comply with all aspects of the Data Protection Act.

To share with other members of the team management and increase sales and profitability of the Product Range

Shared Responsibilities and Activities:
As a member of the Marketing team you will have the following shared responsibilities;
– Support – provide active Sales and Technical support for customers, the Sales teams, subsidiaries and distributors, including on site visits to end-users, to help achieve increase in sales and profit on the specific product portfolio and support on other product area if required.
– CRM Contact Database – to ensure that the CRM database is kept updated as appropriate.
– Literature – provide sufficient up-to-date technical and marketing literature when it is needed, adhering to the Corporate Branding guidelines.
– Exhibitions – work with Marcomms to make bookings and arrangements for all exhibition and seminars that can be demonstrated to strategically important and be cost effective to attend in terms of cost benefit analysis.
– Price Lists – ensure UK & International pricelists are prepared and issued each year or whenever we decide to issue new ones.
– Product recalls – to work with R&D and our Regulatory Department to ensure rapid & effective product recalls when needed.

Role Requirements

1. New Product Launches
As products are progressing through our Design process or are being prepared for launch by suppliers, this role will be to directly involved and manage that process to ensure that appropriate support materials are prepared in line with the launch schedule. It’s also necessary to liaise with Customer Services and Demand to adjust stock and re-order levels, MOQ, volume breaks, terms and conditions of supply.
2. Promotional Campaigns
Ensure all support materials are available for any promotional campaign for new and existing products. This will involve liaison with UK and International Sales teams, Subsidiaries and Distributors.
3. Product Management
As part of the marketing team to be responsible for the product management of the Mast Range, answer technical enquiries and responsibility for updating information that relates to specific products, as such it is essential to develop a good technical microbiological understanding of the products and their applications in the clinical laboratory
4. Website
The Group’s websites are our main promotional tool and technical information source. A key function of this role is to ensure all data on the UK site is current and accurate and frequent news items keep the site fresh and interesting. It is important we optimise the site by the use of microsites, newsletters as well as on page and back linked SEO (search engine optimisation).
5. Data Protection
We obtain customer information via CRM, website and other marketing activities. The Company has a legal responsibility to keep this data secure and only to use it if the customer has given appropriate permission. We have to ensure that we keep records of these ‘opt-ins’ and how such data has been used.
6. Corporate Branding
Working with Marcomms, you will ensure that all agreed style guidelines are followed during design and production of literature, exhibition materials, letterheads etc. It is important that we manage updating of material stocks throughout the Company sensibly without wasting money unnecessarily.
6. Customer Support
To ensure that the information we provide to end-user customers, distributors, subsidiaries and sales teams is accurate, up-to-date and consistent throughout all our literature and website – adhering to Corporate Branding.
7. Literature
It is important that all our literature is version controlled and our literature stocks are maintained in line with demand and our budget and Corporate Branding.
Any changes have to be made consistently throughout all our literature, price lists and website having first gained approval from the Corporate Branding team.
Preparation and management of a central database of images and documents.
8. Exhibitions
In conjunction with Mast Marcomms team ensure exhibition booking, communication with organisers, stand planning and ensuring the correct display materials and literature are available.
Despatch and safe return of all exhibition materials.
Preparation of cost benefit analysis to determine whether any exhibition is worth attending for a stated specific purpose.
9. Price Lists
Review product sales and margins and recommend any changes in stock status, MOQ, volume breaks, terms and conditions of supply.
Update all price lists with such changes and any product additions or deletions, and issue price list to the customers, distributors, subsidiaries and sales teams.
10. Key Products
Liaise and brief Customer Services and Demand Management to keep them updated on new product information, anticipated demand, product addition or deletions etc.
11. CRM Database Management
It is the role of all Sales & Marketing team members to keep contact names up-to-date but data security and correct use of the date in line with the Data Protection Act needs to be complied with by ensuring we have accurate records of customer opt-ins.
To be responsible for monitoring sales of all new products, and liaising with Customer Services and Demand to adjust stock and re-order levels, MOQ, volume breaks, terms and conditions of supply.
12. Product Recalls
Occasionally it is necessary to recall products. There is a responsibility to produce a contact list of customers and action the recall by e-mail, fax or letter as appropriate. This will involve close collaboration with R&D and the Regulatory team.
13. Liaison with Suppliers
To ensure that we have appropriate up-to-date literature and technical information about the Supplier’s products.
To ensure that all customer queries that can’t be answered within Mast, are referred to the Supplier and the answer is then communicated back by you, directly or via the appropriate Sales person, to the Customer.

Person Specifications

The ideal candidate would hold a science background ideally microbiology/media together with some experience of marketing and technical support


Base salary between £30,000 – £35,000 dependent on experience
