Fantastic Opportunity for a Graduate within chemistry or chemical engineering to kickstart their career within Research and Development as an R&D Process Scientist for a leading company within the water solutions and technology market!
Title: R&D Process Scientist
Location: Lane End, High Wycombe
This role will be working within the R&D process team characterizing and developing water purification technologies and products on the laboratory scale. This will also involve supporting commercial and manufacturing teams (based on the same site) offering opportunities for experience in a variety of different areas.
Primarily the work will involve operating new technologies and processes, in laboratory-scale test rigs, prototypes and finished products; This will include, design of process and test methodology, component specification, test rig build & automation/controls, sample collection/testing, mass balances, performance monitoring & optimisation, and work write-up.
You will be based at our office and laboratories in Lane End, near High Wycombe.
Role Requirements
Job Responsibilities:
– Operation of test equipment associated with new products and processes
– Involvement in the process design and testing of new products
– Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team with a design and build focus, setting design and test work objectives.
– Creation and automation of test rigs to prove water purification processes and technologies
– Running test programmes for new products/technologies.
– Completion of practical test work including data logging, interrogation, interpretation, and evaluation.
– Accurate recording of experimental results, report writing, and outcome presentation.
– Innovation is expected; including identifying, learning about & sourcing, technologies and components to create successful new processes.
– A pragmatic approach using initiative and problem solving is very important.
– Participation in site trials of prototypes.
Person Specifications
What we are looking for:
– A degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or similar technical qualification. Strong fundamental knowledge in science with a desire to develop and learn further.
– Experience of working within a technical/practical environment such as in a team of scientists/engineers, for a minimum of one year.
– Practical knowledge, skill and aptitude are essential; As are a ‘hands-on’ approach, a proactive attitude and sound appreciation for health and safety concerns.
– A natural and logical problem solver; using your own initiative to find and implement solutions, as part of a team.
– Attention to detail and ability to critique work of self and peers to maintain the high standards of work delivered by the department.
– Strength in mathematics, to manipulate & interrogation of numerical data is essential.
– Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
– Flexibility and Time Management in order to manage multiple tasks and prioritise.
