Sales Specialist
Role Overview
In order to drive further bottom-line growth across strategic accounts – an ambitious self-starter with a track record of identifying and converting commercial opportunities in a field-based sales role is required to join a leading medical diagnostics company with a range of innovative products spanning microbiology and point of care testing.
Ideally located in the South or Midlands region, the ideal candidate is a proactive, dynamic individual with a minimum of 5 years field-based sales experience, primarily gained from within the medical diagnostics. Provided with all the ongoing support and product knowledge required to succeed, the Medical Diagnostics Sales Specialist will become responsible for selling and supporting the company’s products with the objective of gaining new customers, maintaining and growing existing accounts and building long-term relationships with key decision makers.
Working closely with the company directors, the successful candidate will enjoy a highly varied and stimulating role offering the rare opportunity to make a significant impact on the future shape and direction of the business.
Role Requirements
A field based sales role that requires extensive travel to customer sites as well as working from home when not meeting with customers.
Actively identify and contact potential new customer decision makers and budget holders.
Draw up and execute a sales plan to build and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities.
Schedule sales meetings, presentations and product demonstrations, primarily on-site and also using online platforms, eg Microsoft Teams.
Assist with the creation and update of sales presentations and marketing literature that are both customer and product specific.
Build and maintain long-term relationships with target customer decision makers, budget holders and KOLs.
Make regular visits to existing customer sites.
Work on tender opportunities and responses in conjunction with other colleagues.
Assist in carrying out audits of customer equipment.
Support field service engineers to diagnose, solve issues and respond to technical queries.
Provide training support for new and existing customers.
Attend exhibitions, conferences and other marketing events.
Attend regular training, development and product updates in the UK and abroad.
Ability to travel to other parts of the UK for sales meetings.
Person Specifications
Demonstrate a track record of sales success in the medical diagnostics field, preferably with experience in selling high value capital equipment.
Highly motivated, tenacious and resilient with a strong desire to win new business.
A high level of initiative required with the ability to work unsupervised and plan your own work.
Detailed understanding of the UK NHS and private clinical laboratories space.
Knowledge of equipment leasing/rental models, tenders and managed service contracts is highly desirable.
Show a high degree of commercial awareness with the ability to spot trends and opportunities within the diagnostics industry.
Experienced negotiator able to navigate the NHS procurement process which can be lengthy, complex and highly varied across organisations.
Strong presentation and product demonstration skills with the ability to distil complex and highly technical details clearly and concisely to a range of target audiences.
Persuasive communicator able to interact quickly and accurately in the high pressure and time limited sales environment.
Educated to bachelor’s degree level in a science subject would be preferred.
