Role Overview

Join our dynamic service team as a Service Manager, contributing to its expansion and success. You will be directly accountable to the Director of Service & Quality. This role involves overseeing both an on-site repair facility with two technicians and a growing field service unit serving clients nationwide. The ideal candidate possesses hands-on technical expertise coupled with managerial proficiency. Effective communication skills are important. encompassing face-to-face interactions, phone conversations, and online correspondence. This role is based in Beverly, MA, with occasional travel as the job demands. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM.

Hettich Instruments is the North American office of the German company Andreas Hettich, with its headquarters in Tuttlingen. Andreas Hettich is an industry-leading laboratory equipment manufacturer best known for its high-quality centrifuges and incubators used in clinical, blood processing, and research laboratories. Hettich also offers special centrifuges and other equipment for integration with laboratory automation systems.

Established in 2003 and located just north of Boston in Beverly, Massachusetts, Hettich Instruments supports all of Hettich’s North American business. The Beverly office and warehouse hold inventory and are responsible for all order processing and shipping for the U.S. and Canada. An inside sales support team helps customers with technical advice and technical service. In addition, a team of territory managers supports customers and distribution partners in the field across the continent.

Role Requirements

Key Responsibilities
· Supervise the service team, managing both on-site and field operations
· Oversee recruitment and training for the service team
· Travel as required to support clients and the service team
· Communication with our German service team/headquarters
· Coordinate activities between the Hettich service team and third party services
· Execute other duties and tasks as delegated

Qualifications
· Proven diagnostic skills, ideally in the bio-medical/clinical engineering/military bio-medical repair
· Substantial field expertise with electrical/electronic schematics or military electronics
· Competency in using electrical and mechanical testing equipment
· Previous experience in service management, preferably overseeing a field service team
· Swift and proficient problem-solving abilities
· Detail-oriented with strong prioritization skills
· Professional demeanor in office and client interactions
· Clear and effective communication skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and strong computer skills
Additional Preferred Skills
· Specific diagnostic abilities for repairing Hettich centrifuges, incubators, and proprietary products
· Extensive background in military, clinical engineering, biomedical, or mechanical field
· Familiarity with small electric testing tools such as DVM, ammeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
· Positive work history with ThermoFisher, Sylvania, Varian, Analogix, Medtronics, local hospitals, etc.
· Experience with Microsoft CRM and/or Business Central
· Speak in the German language
· Exceptional organizational skills
· Demonstrated growth mindset
