Philips Respironics Closes Multiple Facilities in Pennsylvania

24th June 2024

Philips Respironics said that it will be closing its Pittsburgh headquarters and ceasing operations at two of its Pennsylvania factories.

As it struggles with a continuing recall of over 15 million ventilators and sleep apnea equipment, Philips is prohibited from selling specific sleep and respiratory goods in the United States unless it complies with the conditions of a consent decree issued by the FDA.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which broke the initial news of the job cuts, said that the corporation will be moving 500 employees from its corporate office to the two sites and eliminating 300 manufacturing positions in Pennsylvania.

“Following the clarity provided by the recently agreed Philips Respironics consent decree and associated requirements, and with a smaller, more focused Sleep & Respiratory Care portfolio, over the next two years,” Peters said, the choice was reached to move manufacture from the two locations.
