Bavarian Nordic Send 215,000 Doses of Mpox Vaccine to Africa
Bavarian Nordic said that it will provide the African Centres for illness Control and Prevention (CDC) with 40,000 dosages of its vaccine in order to fight the illness on the same day that the organisation declared an emergency for public health due to mpox outbreaks throughout the continent.
The vaccine will be sent to the African CDC together with the quantity of about 175,420 pills that the European Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (Hera) requested. This means that a total of 215,420 doses will be given to the African CDC.
There have been known mpox outbreaks in at least 13 African nations, resulting in 2,863 confirmed cases and 517 fatalities. The virus that causes monkeypox is the infectious illness known as mpox. It may result in fever, swollen lymph nodes, and excruciating rashes. Although most affected people recover completely, there are rare cases when it can be deadly.
