Ewes Abortion Vaccine Shortage
It was recently verified that there is going to be a shortage of the Cevac Chlamydia enzootic abortion of ewes (EAE) vaccination until August.
Ceva Animal Health, which manufacturers the vaccine, stated they “deeply regrets any inconvenience caused to sheep farmers during this period”.
The firm said that a “vaccine batch failure in the manufacturing process.”
Additional stock might become accessible later in the season, according to Ceva.
In the UK, EAE accounts for 52% of sheep abortions and is brought about by the bacterium Chlamydia abortus.
Roy Geary, regional director at Ceva commented: “The manufacturing of vaccines is a complex process that involves stringent quality control measures and adherence to regulatory guidelines.’’
He contined: “Unfortunately, the anticipated vaccine batch has failed to meet the quality expected to be suitable for release.
In response to the announcement, AHDB urged farmers to discuss alternate options for preserving the well-being of their flocks throughout this time with their veterinarian.
