MSD Animal Health Launches Innovative Dairy Monitoring Technology
MSD Animal Health, a division of Merck, has launched the revolutionary SenseHub™ Dairy Youngstock technology, the industry’s first monitoring system for dairy calves from birth through 12 months. This new technology aims to provide dairy farmers with valuable, actionable insights to make more informed decisions, enhancing calf health and overall herd management.
The introduction of SenseHub™ Dairy Youngstock marks a significant advancement in dairy farm technology. Utilizing proprietary algorithms, the system monitors calf behaviours to identify those that deviate from normal patterns, indicating potential health issues. This innovation helps overcome the natural tendency of calves to hide symptoms of illness, offering early detection and intervention. Paired with the new LED ear tag, farmers can efficiently locate and address animals needing attention, promoting herd well-being.
This launch is part of MSD Animal Health’s continued efforts to alleviate the chronic labour shortages faced by dairy farms. The SenseHub™ Ecosystem, with its updated features, allows both small and large-scale farms to streamline operations and boost productivity. Key additions include scalable solutions for large dairies, an online resource for self-service capabilities, advanced herd management tools, and third-party software integrations enhancing overall farm management.
The SenseHub™ Dairy Youngstock from MSD Animal Health promises to transform dairy farming by improving calf health and farm efficiency, offering farmers peace of mind and support amidst ongoing industry challenges. This commitment to innovation and animal health demonstrates MSD Animal Health’s pivotal role in shaping the future of dairy production and farm management.
