NHS Provides £600,000 for Tackling the Lack of Ethnic Donors
The NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) Communities Grants Programme has allocated £600,000 to tackle the scarcity of organ and blood donations from mixed-race, black, and Asian groups.
The money is an extension of the government’s and the NHS’s continued dedication to address medical disparities for those who require frequent blood transfusions or vital transplants.
Opportunities for funding include £150,000 for initiatives involving living kidney donation, £300,000 for programmes involving blood donation, and £150,000 for projects involving organ donations.
Minister for public health and primary care stated: “Blood and organ donations are crucial to saving lives, and this year’s funding underscores our commitment to initiatives aimed at inspiring donations and enhancing awareness within our diverse communities.”
