Pfizer Let Go 210 in North Carolina Manufacturing Facility
Pfizer’s Rocky Mount, North Carolina, manufacturing unit is now experiencing another round of layoffs after the initial tornado hitting.
Pfizer said in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice (PDF) that it will eliminate 60 positions at the Rocky Mount sterile injectables factory by the conclusion of July, as part of two scheduled staff cuts in North Carolina.
In addition, Pfizer plans to let off 150 workers at its Sanford, North Carolina, facility as a result of a significant setback in the New York pharmaceutical company’s pursuit of gene medicines.
The two locations would “definitely remain open” despite the changes, a Pfizer representative commented.
The layoffs coincide with a significant reducing expenses initiative that Pfizer launched in the autumn of 2023. Pfizer said in May of last year that it will cut expenditure by an extra $1.5 billion by the conclusion of 2027, on top of the $4 billion in projected cuts that had already been announced.
