Siemens Gets FDA Nod for Advanced 3D Mammography
Siemens Healthineers has achieved a significant milestone with the FDA premarket approval of its Mammomat B.brilliant platform, marking the introduction of their first completely redesigned mammography system in over 10 years. This advancement is set to enhance diagnostic precision and patient comfort in breast cancer screening.
With the global mammography equipment market valued at around $2.1 billion in 2023, Siemens Healthineers aims to strengthen its foothold with its latest innovation. The Mammomat B.brilliant features a new 3D imaging solution designed to minimize blurring and enable quicker image acquisition. Leveraging a 50-degree wide-angle and UHD image reconstruction technology, the system offers superior tissue separation and enhanced visualization of lesions and calcifications.
The breakthrough technology is powered by a fast detector and an advanced X-ray tube equipped with flying focal spot technology. The enhanced depth resolution is said to offer up to 3.5 times the tissue separation compared to other systems, addressing common challenges like overlapping breast tissue often found in 2D imaging.
Siemens Healthineers’ innovative approach in the Mammomat B.brilliant platform not only promises to elevate diagnostic capabilities but also underscores its dedication to women’s health and patient comfort. This next-generation system is poised to make a significant impact in the mammography market and reinforces Siemens’ leadership in medical imaging technology.
