VetChip’s Biosensing Microchip Takes 2024 Pet Care Innovation Prize
VetChip’s surgically implanted biosensing microchip, designed to collect data and notify pet owners of potential health concerns through a mobile application, has won the 2024 Pet Care Innovation Prize.
This monitoring device aims to advance animal healthcare by facilitating early identification and, ultimately, expediting diagnosis and treatment.
VetChip triumphed over four other nominees, showcasing their innovations at the Global Pet Expo in Orlando.
Based in Perth, Australia, the firm secured just over $24,000 in funding and assistance from Purina’s team of pet care specialists.
Garnatt Hall, co-creator of Vetchip, commented, “We are absolutely thrilled to have our revolutionary biosensor achievements recognized through the Pet Care Innovation Prize 2024.”
Hall went on to add, “This award will help us to unlock a world of possibilities for proactive animal healthcare, including welfare monitoring, nutrition support, and detection of diseases.”
