Yorkshire Medtech Innovator, Eventum Medical, Secures Major Funding for Global Expansion
Yorkshire-based medtech firm, Eventum Medical, has successfully raised £3.8 million to accelerate the rollout of its groundbreaking QuadSense knee surgery device in the UK and US. The funding, primarily from NPIF II Equity and Mercia Ventures, aims to enhance surgical precision and improve patient outcomes in knee replacements, a procedure affecting over 2 million people globally each year.
Eventum’s QuadSense device is revolutionising knee replacement surgeries by providing real-time data on kneecap positioning, a key factor in improving surgical success rates. Though knee replacements are common, about 20% of patients remain dissatisfied post-operation—a gap QuadSense aims to bridge. With regulatory approvals and successful implementation in over 300 procedures, the company is now expanding its market presence with new distributors in the UK, US, and other international markets. The funding will also aid in the development of similar innovations for shoulder and hip surgeries. Founded in 2020 by former medical executives John Naybour and Paul Atherton, Eventum operates from Ilkley and has thus far raised over £7 million.
With significant backing from renowned investors, Eventum Medical is well-positioned to revolutionise orthopaedic surgery globally. The company’s commitment to innovation and precision in medical procedures underscores its potential to significantly impact patient satisfaction and surgical outcomes. This funding marks a promising advancement in medtech, providing a robust foundation for future growth and development.
