Astorg to Purchase Cook Medical’s Reproductive health business

25th July 2024

The medtech company Cook Medical stated that it has signed a letter of commitment to offload its reproductive healthcare division to the private equity firm Astorg. The deal’s financial details were kept under wraps.

In the past few years, Cook has reorganised its company, selling ear, nose, and throat equipment to C2Dx, unloading a portion of its reproductive division to Cooper, and terminating 500 workers. Cook acquired a portfolio of goods related to assisted reproductive technology (ART) and in vitro fertilisation (IVF) as part of the $300 million Cooper purchase.

Scheduled to finalise in the autumn, the Astorg purchase will comprise the items as well as a Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, production plant. After the transaction complete, Cook will stay on to operate the plant and offer manufacturing services. Following that, Cook’s 209 Vandergrift staff members will join Astorg’s reproductive health division.
