Canine otitis externa webinar

11th July 2024

Dechra is hosting a canine otitis externa webinar on Wednesday 31 July to share practical tips on otitis externa, how to choose the right treatments and to enable veterinary professionals to learn more about the latest guidelines for using antibiotics responsibly.

Otitis externa is a common problem, seen in over 10% of dogs attending primary care practices1. Acute otitis externa can often be treated successfully, but chronic or recurrent otitis externa can be challenging for both vets and owners.

The BSAVA and its affiliated group, SAMSoc (Small Animal Medicine Society), has recently updated its PROTECT ME guidelines for ‘Antibiotic use in our practice’ to promote the use of topical steroids and antiseptic cleaners for otitis externa, moving away from using antimicrobials for all first-line cases and encouraging education around antibiotic stewardship.

The ‘Ear essentials – a holistic approach to the treatment of canine otitis externa’ webinar will feature a presentation by Jonathon Elgie, veterinary technical advisor at Dechra UK and Ireland. Jonathon will talk delegates through case examples to help them make informed decisions that can be utilised in practice and take a clear, practical and holistic approach to treatment. He will also update vet professionals on Dechra support including the Lifelong Ear Partnership which provides education, tips and assistance to achieve better clinical outcomes and owner satisfaction.

The hour-long webinar takes place at 7pm on Wednesday 31 July. To register visit https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/2137140980866805589.
