Donatelle Plastics Purchased by DuPont for $313M
On July 28, DuPont de Nemours completed the $313 million purchase of Donatelle Plastics, a contract maker of medical devices. Donatelle is a company that specialises in the development, manufacture, and design of medical devices and parts for therapeutic applications, including orthopaedic extremities, cardiac, and diagnostics.
The contract maker is going to become a part of New DuPont, the materials science division of the chemical giant. DuPont is a three-company conglomerate that it announced in May it would break up over a period of two years.
Due to Donatelle’s ability to expand its portfolio with machining and tooling services, the facility will present DuPont with cross-selling potential in related goods. The manufacturer of medical devices is an expert in technologies and skills related to injection moulding, processing liquid silicone rubber, and device construction.
SVP and CFO Antonella Franzen stated on the call that DuPont anticipates generating an additional $75 million in sales this year as a result of the Donatelle purchase.
