Infusion Pumps Recalled by Smiths Medical
According to several issues connected to outdated software Smiths Medical has recalled infusion pumps, the FDA announced.
CADD-Solis is a pain treatment and home care product that ICU Medical purchased with Smiths Medical for $2.35 billion. After the transaction concluded early in 2022, the holdings has resulted in ICU Medical issues, recalls, caution letters, and declining sales.
The most recent problem relates to a strap-worn pump that infusion clients use to move about their homes or inpatient facilities.
Eight problems with the ambulatory pumps were found by Smiths Medical in an archived analysis of safety assessments carried out throughout its software development cycle. The February clarification said that Smiths Medical had not been notified of any fatalities or significant injuries associated with the problem.
CEO Vivek Jain stated: “[For] the Smiths portfolio in aggregate, this was the best quarter of sales since sort of the back order catch-up on the Smiths portfolio, but there’s still a long way to go.”
