Alamar Biosciences to Profile 21,000 ADRD Samples in US
Alamar Biosciences, a Nasdaq-listed precision proteomics company, has partnered with leading US research universities to launch a national-scale proteomics initiative advancing blood-based biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD). Announced on 13 July 2026, the project will generate large-scale plasma proteomic data from approximately 21,000 samples collected from 10,000 Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center participants across the United States, using Alamar’s NULISAseq Neuro 220 panel.
The project is co-led by Sarah Biber, PhD, at Washington University in St. Louis; Sterling Johnson, PhD, at the University of Wisconsin; and Tatiana Foroud, PhD, director of the National Centralized Repository for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (NCRAD) at Indiana University. Samples are stored at NCRAD, providing centralised infrastructure for coordinated biomarker discovery, and the profiling will use the NULISAseq Neuro 220 panel enhanced with a newly added eMTBR-Tau assay. The initiative sits within the Consortium for Clarity in ADRD Research Through Imaging (CLARiTI) portfolio, drawing on academic, philanthropic and data-sharing partnerships.
Alamar’s NULISA (Nucleic acid-Linked Immuno-Sandwich Assay) technology, running on the ARGO HT System, is designed to detect low-concentration protein biomarkers in blood at attomolar sensitivity, with high specificity and flexible multiplexing. Dr Yuling Luo, Founder and CEO of Alamar, framed the initiative as delivering a clinically anchored, deeply multiplexed proteomic dataset for discovery, validation and translational research across neurodegenerative diseases. The partnership positions Alamar as a preferred platform for the emerging ADRD biomarker discovery ecosystem, and directly supports the growing therapeutic pipeline led by Eisai and Biogen’s Leqembi and Eli Lilly’s Kisunla.
The commercial signal is a rapidly stratifying blood-based Alzheimer’s proteomics market where scale, platform depth and institutional partnerships are becoming key competitive vectors. A 21,000-sample national initiative gives Alamar a substantial validation platform ahead of therapy-driven diagnostic demand. Expect Olink Proteomics (Thermo Fisher), Standard BioTools (SomaLogic), Quanterix and Beckman Coulter to sharpen their own ADRD proteomics positioning through late 2026.
