Curiox Expands Commercial Team for Pluto, C-FREE Rollout
Curiox Biosystems has announced a significant commercial expansion built around its Pluto Workstations and C-FREE centrifuge-free sample preparation technology, naming new VPs in business development and marketing alongside a newly formed Strategic Advisory Board. Published on 30 October 2026, the structural build-out signals an acceleration phase for Curiox’s commercial trajectory across biopharma, CROs and research institutions as flow cytometry automation enters a maturing adoption curve.
Shanin Barican joins Curiox as VP of Business Development to lead partnerships and strategic alliances, bringing over 20 years of commercialisation experience. Kristine Friscino joins as VP of Marketing to lead Pluto marketing across biopharma, CROs and research institutions, following previous VP roles at Nuclera and 17 years at Abcam. The newly formed Strategic Advisory Board includes Elizabeth (Betty) Woo, PhD, who retired in early 2026 as VP of Cell, Gene and Advanced Therapies at Thermo Fisher, and David Newble, Chairman of Cresset and Director of Fluidic Sciences, previously having led TAP Biosystems and SPT Labtech. Curiox CEO Namyong Kim positioned the appointments as coming at a pivotal point for the company.
The Pluto Workstation platform automates flow cytometry sample preparation, including reagent cocktailing, staining and washing, built on Curiox’s proprietary C-FREE technology that removes the need for centrifugation during washing and mixing steps. Centrifuge-free workflows reduce cell loss, protect sensitive sample populations and simplify high-throughput laboratory operations, all of which carry particular commercial relevance for cell therapy manufacturing, single-cell analysis, immuno-oncology drug development and translational research pipelines. The commercial build-out reflects a maturing automation adoption curve across biopharma sample preparation, where throughput and reproducibility pressures are driving substantial capex into workflow automation.
The commercial signal is a scaling flow cytometry sample preparation automation category where centrifuge-free workflows carry particular relevance across cell therapy manufacturing, immuno-oncology and translational research. Pluto adoption and the SAB-led strategic positioning anchor Curiox’s commercial trajectory through 2027. Expect continued build-out across the flow cytometry automation and single-cell analysis preparation markets through 2027 and 2028.
