$104M Secured by Kardium for Pulsed Field Ablation System

13th June 2024

In order to assist the firm for a commercial release, Kardium, the creator of a pulsed field ablation and mapping device utilised for treating atrial fibrillation, stated recently that it has received $104 million in a fresh fundraising phase.

New ablation methods are being introduced by healthcare device manufacturers to treat Atrial fibrillation, a cardiac rhythm condition that is becoming more and more common and affects up to 59 million individuals globally. Blood can pool and clot as a result of the irregular and frequently fast pulse, increasing the risk of cardiac arrest or stroke.

Recently, Boston Scientific and Medtronic introduced much awaited technologies in the United States aimed at the aberrant electrical impulses that might cause AFib. These systems use a novel technique known as pulsed field ablation, or PFA.

“We are very excited to have the continued support of existing investors, and welcome Durable Capital Partners to this round,” Kardium CEO Kevin Chaplin commented.
