Admetec Launches PLUS Family Headlights for Loupes
Admetec has launched the PLUS Family, a new series of high-output, lightweight headlight attachments designed specifically for high-magnification dental loupes. Announced on 5 November 2026, the range comprises the wireless Butterfly EVO+ delivering up to 140,000 LUX and the wired Orchid+ delivering up to 200,000 LUX, positioned as the first headlights engineered specifically for high-magnification loupes. The PLUS Family is now available in North America via distribution partner Andau Medical.
The Butterfly EVO+ is a wireless headlight delivering up to 140,000 LUX with a focused 95mm beam at a 500mm working distance, weighing 29 grams with its battery pack and providing up to 4.5 hours of continuous runtime. The wired Orchid+ delivers up to 200,000 LUX with a tight beam tailored to high-magnification focal points, weighs just 11 grams, and provides up to 25 hours of runtime via its wired battery unit. Both lights are designed to pair with ergonomic loupes, addressing a specific clinical problem flagged by the company: as more dentists and surgeons switch to ergonomic loupes to protect their posture, enhanced magnification tends to produce darker working fields. The PLUS Family is positioned to resolve that trade-off by combining high light output with lightweight ergonomics.
Dr Roger Serrano, a dental surgeon in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Mexico, and an early user, framed the Butterfly EVO+ as retaining the same touch-sensitive controls and two intensity settings as the original Butterfly while delivering substantially improved light concentration on the working field. David Kotler, Head of Marketing at Admetec, positioned the PLUS Family as resolving the comfort-illumination-magnification trade-off that constrained earlier ergonomic workflow adoption. Sandi Wright, CEO of Andau Medical, framed the North American launch around strong anticipated demand from dental, hygiene and surgical customers. The product launch aligns with growing clinical and commercial focus on dental professional ergonomics: one cited study found more than 60% of dental professionals experience some form of musculoskeletal discomfort linked to poor posture, with downstream implications for career longevity, practice productivity and staff retention across general dental, specialist and dental hygiene workflows.
The commercial signal is a maturing dental magnification and illumination accessory category where ergonomic loupe adoption is driving demand for high-output, lightweight headlights that address enhanced magnification’s darker working field. North American distribution through Andau Medical anchors near-term commercial momentum. Expect sustained investment in dental ergonomic clinical workflow equipment through 2027.
